So what started out as a simple practice sketch of an interesting tree from a reference photo is turning out to be an illustration of a tree hollow based on several references and my imagination!
Spring means being able to draw outside again. It’s just too cold, but thank goodness for the reference photos I’ve taken over the years. Still there is a starkness to winter trees that I love, especially when they are in silhouette. It’s a very graphic feel. Also, you know how mad I am about tree roots. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall – you’ll always find me sketching tree roots!
